Radeon RX 6600 Linux Performance Rising Even Higher With Newest Open-Source Driver

Right from the start with the popular Dota 2 game we see that the driver state around the beginning of October was actually regressed compared to the newer code or now with Mesa 22.0-devel where it's in the best shape of all six driver configurations tested. Since early October NGG culling has been enabled by default with the RADV driver among other improvements made.

Meanwhile Batman: Arkham Knight as a Steam Play game saw improvements/fixes since the start of October. The AMDGPU-PRO Vulkan driver performance remains quite low compared to RADV aside from that early October state.

With Deus Ex: Mankind Divided as the last major OpenGL-powered native Linux game port by Feral Interactive, AMDGPU-PRO's proprietary OpenGL performance was very low... RadeonSI has long been superior to that proprietary OpenGL driver for gaming and increasingly now RadeonSI is also doing better for workstation OpenGL too.

The main takeaway from today's testing is that using Mesa Git paired with Linux 5.15 is yielding the best performance with nice gains compared to prior states, especially the condition of Mesa Git from just a few weeks back. DiRT Rally 2.0 is another Steam Play (Proton + DXVK) title.
