Open-Source Radeon 2D Performance Is Better With Ubuntu 14.10

Across the board the performance is better with Ubuntu 14.10 for QGears2, including for the HD 4870 and HD 6870 that use EXA rather than GLAMOR. The most significant gain was for the HD 7950 that improved by 26%.
GLAMOR improved the most for offering better Radeon 2D performance on Ubuntu 14.10, but at least EXA moved forward too.
For some workloads the old EXA support on older AMD GPUs is still faster than GLAMOR with the newer GPUs.
