RadeonSI Gallium3D Made Impressive Performance Gains In 2017
The R9 Fury manages to run Metro Last Light Redux 36% faster with the latest Radeon open-source driver code.
Tomb Raider's performance only went up slightly this year.
The RX 580 and R9 Fury were pushing higher in Unigine Heaven.
Unigine Superposition was also pushing a few frames higher this year.
Xonotic performance is also even up this year with the latest AMDGPU+RadeonSI driver code.
Overall, the open-source Radeon OpenGL performance improved a heck of a lot this year. In many of these Steam Linux games there were double digit improvements to find when running the newer RX 580 / R9 Fury graphics cards from the driver stack found in Ubuntu 16.04.3/17.04 and other early H1'2017 Linux distributions to that of what you find now in December with Linux 4.15 and Mesa 17.4-dev (to be released in February as Mesa 18.0). As has already been show, the RX Vega performance is also up greatly since its summer launch.
