Radeon RX Vega On Linux: High-Performance GPUs & Open-Source No Longer An Oxymoron
Xonotic is another one of the games where it runs very well on RadeonSI in relation to NVIDIA. The results with the launch-day open-source driver support still put the performance ahead of the AMDGPU-PRO driver, but very little improvement over the R9 Fury, though in this case it is already ahead of the GTX 1080.
With Unigine Heaven the AMDGPU-PRO driver is performing at the same speed as the fully open-source driver, but that is putting it only between the GTX 1060 and GTX 980 Ti levels.
With Unigine Valley the performance is a bit better where at least the Radeon RX Vega 64 on Gallium3D is in line with the GeForce GTX 1070.
It's a similar story with the newer Unigine Superposition benchmark. The main highlight is seeing the AMDGPU+RadeonSI combination outperform AMDGPU-PRO on launch day, something never seen before with the open-source driver stack from any GPU vendor.
