Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF 4K UHD HDR Monitor
👁 Samsung G81SF enabling HDR on Linux
The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 G81SF arrived without any dead pixels or other imperfections. The Samsung G81SF and ASUS PG27UCDM are the two HDR OLED monitors I am currently reviewing. Between these similarly-priced HDR QD-OLED monitors, I slightly preferred the color vibrance, brightness, and contrast with the Samsung G81SF over the ASUS PG27UCDM. Both are great monitors but when comparing them side-by-side, I slightly favored the G81SF. Unfortunately, reproducing them for pictures in this review aren't too effective/useful, but seeming them in person is simply amazing.

The glare-free coating on the Samsung G81SF was effective and didn't encounter any reflection issues. Besides no defective pixels on arrival, in the few weeks of review testing there hasn't been any burn-in issues or other problems with the Samsung G81SF.

As for the pricing, 4K HDR OLED monitors are unfortunately still very pricey. The Samsung G81SF carries a list price of $1299 USD. Some Internet retailers have been offering a $300 discount or as a retailer gift card to put it effectively in the $999 spot at least initially, but still rather tough pricing in today's economic environment. At least within a few months the QD-OLED HDR UHD monitor pricing will hopefully reach more manageable pricing levels for Linux gamers and enthusiasts to enjoy a beautiful HDR desktop experience.
