Qualcomm Snapdragon X1 Elite GCC vs. LLVM Clang Compiler Performance
👁 WebP Image Encode benchmark with settings of Encode Settings: Default. Clang 20.1 was the fastest.
To not much surprise given the prior AArch64 compiler benchmarking adventures, LLVM Clang on the Qualcomm Snapdragon X1 was able to compete and in a number of instances outperform the GCC built binaries on Ubuntu 25.04.
Like on x86_64, GCC 14.2 is the default C/C++ compiler on Ubuntu 25.04.
👁 libavif avifenc benchmark with settings of Encoder Speed: 6, Lossless. Clang 20.1 was the fastest.
There was some healthy competition but LLVM Clang often ended up with providing the fastest performance of the resulting applications on this Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite laptop running Ubuntu Linux.
