For looking at the effectiveness of the new Thelio Mira, I monitored various vitals over seven hours of running different benchmarks.

The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X has a 4.3GHz base clock and 5.7GHz maximum boost clock. When looking at the peak frequency over that seven hour span, the Ryzen 9 9950X in the Thelio Mira was running at 5.2GHz on average and hitting 5.7GHz regularly with even one recording at 5.9GHz, which may be due to a race condition or similar factor.

Through all of this demanding benchmarking, the Ryzen 9 9950X was running at 67 degrees on average and a peak recorded temperature of 88 degrees. It's in good shape with the Zen 5 processors typically running hotter by design and comfortably able to sustain the higher temperatures.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card was also running cool within the Thelio Mira desktop over the mix of GPU workloads carried out.

Monitoring other system vitals like the NVMe SSD drive temperature also raised no concerns with the new System76 Thelio Mira desktop.

To no surprise at all, the system was working out fine under the Ubuntu 24.04 LTS derived Pop!_OS 24.04 distribution. The Ryzen 9000 series Linux support is very mature at this point and the GeForce RTX 50 series also well supported when making use of NVIDIA's official driver stack.
