The laptop can get a bit noisy when fully engaging the CPU and/or dGPU but the rest of the time when under light to moderate load does remain very quiet.

For looking at the performance of the TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen2, I ran nearly 150 benchmarks initially focused on the Ryzen 7 8845HS performance... Testing against a number of Linux laptops in hand that were recently re-benchmarked atop a fresh software stack.

When jumping straight to the geometric mean of the 147 benchmarks, the Ryzen 7 8845HS does pretty well competing with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Zen 5 SoC found within the new ASUS Zenbook S16. The TUXEDO Sirius 16 Gen 2 was around 10% faster than the Framework 16 laptop with Ryzen 7 7840HS SoC.

But the big difference is the Ryzen 7 8845HS was consuming much more power to be competing with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370. The Ryzen 7 8845HS SOC was consuming 60 Watts on average during benchmarking with a recorded peak of 100 Watts in the Sirius 16 Gen 2. Meanwhile the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 was consuming 20 Watts on average with a recorded peak of 34 Watts. See the aforelinked benchmark result page for viewing all the individual benchmarks and power data in full.

The Ryzen 7 8845HS is still a very capable Zen 4 SoC but not on the same performance-per-Watt level as the Ryzen AI 300 series. But so far there aren't any Linux pre-load laptops with these new Zen 5 SoCs and there are various caveats to be aware of that you'll need to be running a very up-to-date Linux distribution, etc. Meanwhile the support for the Ryzen 7 8845HS is very mature now across distributions.

With the Radeon RX 7600M XT discrete graphics is also what makes the Sirius 16 Gen2 more notable for those needing more GPU performance from their Linux laptop:

The Radeon RX 7600M XT enjoys mature open-source driver support as well and much more capable than the RDNA3 integrated graphics.
