The Stress-NG kernel micro-benchmarks have shown some nice Linux kernel improvements over the years but since 2018 and the resulting mitigations many of those metrics have been lowered.

The ctx-clock program shows the context switching speed how on Ubuntu in 2017 and older it took just around 140~150 clocks to perform a context switch but now takes over one thousand clocks due to the CPU security mitigations.
