Ubuntu 26.04 Delivers Enhanced Performance For AMD Radeon Linux Gaming

Counter-Strike 2 with the Radeon RX 9070 XT was showing some nice incremental gains with Ubuntu 26.04 -- beyond all of the improvements seen over the past year for RDNA4 on Linux.

Various Steam Play (Proton) games also showing some nice performance improvements for the Radeon RX 9070 XT when moving to Ubuntu 26.04.

For both OpenGL and Vulkan tests there are nice performance gains to see from upgrading from the default Ubuntu 25.10 stack to Ubuntu 26.04 in its current development form. Mesa 26.0 does a lot for Radeon graphics. Mesa 26.0 brings some very nice gains especially for Vulkan ray-tracing but alas the ongoing stability issues prevented those tests from being carried out today. Hopefully the pesky stability issues will be resolved soon. At least if you aren't affected by stability issues, Ubuntu 26.04 is bringing some meaningful performance gains for AMD Radeon graphics.
