Benchmarking The Performance Benefits To Ubuntu 26.10 amd64v3 Packages
The R performance was faster.
The POV-Ray ray-tracer in the Ubuntu archive was also faster with Ubuntu 26.10 amd64v3.
The RawTherapee application was slightly faster on Ubuntu amd64v3.
For select Python operations the amd64v3 packages were faster than the generic amd64 state.
The amd64v3 performance benefit to the default PHP was small but measurable with the current state of Ubuntu 26.10.
Overall, Ubuntu 26.10 amd64v3 packages are continuing to show nice performance advantages in performance-sensitive applications and other workloads like cryptography, some compression/decompression tasks, and various creator/imaging applications and more. It will be interesting to see what Canonical ultimately decides to do about amd64v3 with Ubuntu Linux.
