Starting off the tests were going easy on the 21 laptops with web browser benchmarks. Even looking at the web browser benchmarks the performance has come a long way with Speedometer 3 seeing its speeds nearly triple from Intel Kaby Lake to Lunar Lake. On a performance-per-Watt basis from the Kaby Lake laptop to Lunar Lake is a 4.03x the performance-per-Watt on Firefox.

Similarly, very nice gains too with the Google Chrome web browser performance across this wide span of benchmarks.

With the JetStream 2 benchmark in Firefox, the performance-per-Watt from Kaby Lake to Lunar Lake on Ubuntu 25.04 is 4.5x.

Under Chrome for the Jetstream 2 benchmark the performance-per-Watt from the Core i7 8550U to Core Ultra 7 256V is at 3.1x the power efficiency.

The comparison was limited by the laptops I had on-hand for carrying out these fresh tests on Ubuntu 25.04.

The Linux laptop capabilities has come a long way for both AMD Ryzen and Intel Core processors in web browser performance the past few years/generations.
