Some GTK2 micro test cases were indicating reduced performance on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

For some applications, Ubuntu 14.04 may yield performance wins thanks to its use of GCC 4.8.2 compared to GCC 4.6 that was found in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. We'll have more compiler-oriented tests in our upcoming Ubuntu 14.04 LTS server/workstation benchmark article.
