Another win for Ubuntu 9.10 came with Crafty when looking at the chess AI engine performance. The Karmic Koala was about 11% faster than Snow Leopard.
Continuing with the chess engine testing, Mac OS X 10.6 won with its TSCP performance, but by a small margin.
Tachyon, a multi-threaded ray-tracing engine, fell in favor of Mac OS X 10.6.0. Snow Leopard was 46% faster than the Karmic Koala with its Tachyon performance. The Karmic Koala was also running slower than the Jaunty Jackalope.
