Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook Performance

Starting with the OpenArena game, its performance had improved marginally under Ubuntu 9.10 with the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and with the Samsung NC10 netbook. However, still this game is largely unplayable with netbooks using Intel integrated graphics. The frame-rate had gone from 18 FPS to 19 FPS with both Atom netbooks.
The LAME MP3 encoding performance had improved by just fewer than 3% with both netbooks running Ubuntu Karmic.
There was also about a 3% improvement on both netbooks when comparing the Ubuntu 9.04 and 9.10 performance with the 7-Zip compression test profile.
