Benchmarking Ubuntu Linux On The Google Nexus 7
The highlighted results are of Ubuntu on the Google Nexus 7 and Ubuntu on the Google Nexus 10.
It's not a big surprise since we have already benchmarked NVIDIA's Tegra 3 "Cardhu" reference tablet and come up with similar results when compared to the Google Series 5 Chromebook that sports a Exynos 5 Dual (dual-core 1.7GHz Cortex A15) like the Nexus 10, but the Nexus 10 is a hell of a lot faster than the Nexus 7. We have found for many workloads that a dual-core Cortex-A15 can beat a quad-core Cortex-A9.
Interestingly, for some workloads the Nexus 7 with Ubuntu is much slower than the Cardhu reference tablet that has the same NVIDIA Tegra 3 SoC. Part of the difference may be due to Ubuntu on the Nexus 7 relying upon the Android/CyanogenMod base where as Ubuntu on the Cardhu uses NVIDIA's Linux 4 Tegra that is pure Linux.
