World of Padman on Nouveau with this particular hardware is faster with Unity 5.12 than the 2D variant.

Well, if you are an Ubuntu 12.04 user and have not upgraded yet to Unity 5.12, go fire up the Ubuntu Update Manager! Unity 5.12 finally fixes some of the OpenGL performance problems although still not on par with Unity 2D for most of the OpenGL games nor based upon the previous Phoronix tests (linked to from the first page) would the Unity+Compiz performance yet be on par with KDE+KWin with automatic suspending of effects, etc.
