VirtualBox 4.1 OpenGL 3D Guest Performance

VirtualBox would be a less than desirable solution for gaming.

While it is nice there is at least 2D/3D acceleration support for guests, when installing the VirtualBox add-ons and enabling the accelerated support from the VirtualBox manager, but its performance remains to be disappointing. It is enough for the desktop, but that is about it. Next up I will see about delivering OpenGL benchmarks from VMware's platform, which takes advantage of the Gallium3D architecture for exposing hardware acceleration to guest machines, but normally the publishing of VMware benchmark results is not allowed.

The individual results from this testing can be found on OpenBenchmarking.org.
