WD_BLACK SN8100 2TB PCIe Gen 5.0 NVMe SSD Linux Benchmarks
For carrying out random reads with FIO, the WD_BLACK SN8100 was the easy front-runner for these consumer NVMe SSD benchmarks on Ubuntu Linux.
For random write performance with FIO, the WD_BLACK SN8100 continued to perform much faster than all of the other solid-state drives benchmarked this round.
I've only had a few days since purchasing the WD_BLACK SN8100 2TB SSD but overall it's working well on Linux in being faster than the other PCIe Gen5 NVMe SSDs recently re-tested as well as being a nice upgrade over the WD_BLACK SN850 series except for some oddities with MariaDB. More tests are ongoing of the WD_BLACK SN8100 under Linux so stay tuned to Phoronix for more benchmarks in follow-up articles.
The WD_BLACK SN8100 2TB can be found for around $279 on Amazon.com (affiliate link).
