For heavy workloads, WSL2 continues to show some overhead compared to bare metal Ubuntu Linux...
But for some HPC workloads like Rodinia, WSL2 Ubuntu 20.04 LTS manages to perform around the same speed as bare metal Ubuntu Linux and in some cases even come out ahead.
For most moderate CPU workloads not relying too much on I/O or memory intensive, the WSL2 Ubuntu performance continues to be similar to that of running bare metal Linux.
