Apache's CouchDB does a good job of showing the better I/O performance of WSL2 compared to the original WSL implementation.
Cases like PostgreSQL show you likely don't want to be running any heavy I/O workloads under Windows Subsystem for Linux, but at least WSL2 with its more hypervisor like approach does help in making some I/O workloads less painful.
