When it comes to timing the GCC compilation process, Clear Linux was much faster than the others while in second was Debian 9.1 and CentOS 7.
With the 80 thread system, Clear Linux could do a default configuration build of the Linux x86-64 kernel in about 20 seconds while Debian 9.1 was the slowest at 28 seconds.
But for the single-threaded FLAC audio encoding test, Debian 9.1 scored a win.
Debian 9.1 also did the best in FLAC, albeit several other Linux distributions were immediately behind it.
When running PostgreSQL in RAM, Clear Linux was surprisingly very slow while CentOS / Debian / openSUSE were the front-runners. When expanding the test case and incorporating disk I/O, the eight tested Linux operating systems were running close to the same while Debian 9.1 had a slight lead.
