Russian forces have struck a school in Chernihiv Oblast, causing extensive damage to the building and destroying school buses.
Source: Viacheslav Chaus, Head of Chernihiv Oblast Military Administration, on Telegram
Quote: "The Russians destroyed the Avdiivka Lyceum [a specialised secondary school] in the Ponornytsia hromada with three Geran drones late in the evening [18 March]. The facility was severely damaged, along with the school buses." [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
Details: Chaus reported that children had been attending classes in person there and only recently switched to a blended learning format due to the threat of frequent air raids.
He also noted that the school had recently undergone "a full renovation, including a completely new kitchen facility".
Russian forces also conducted further attacks on transport infrastructure in the Mena hromada and the Nizhyn district. A local emergency medical services building was damaged in the latest strike.
