US President Donald Trump has said he is seriously considering the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO and once again described the alliance as a "paper tiger".

Details: Trump was asked whether he would be reconsidering the US's membership of NATO after the conflict in the Middle East.

Quote: "Oh yes, I would say [it's] beyond reconsideration. I was never swayed by NATO. I always knew they were a paper tiger, and Putin knows that too, by the way."

Details: Trump also criticised UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer again for refusing to join the US-Israeli war against Iran, suggesting that the Royal Navy is not up to the task.

"You don't even have a navy. You're too old and had aircraft carriers that didn't work," he said.

The US president also praised Secretary of State Marco Rubio for having expressed opposition to the US's continued NATO membership.
