We have passed our request to the American side. I don't know whether they will have an opportunity to convey their own message to the Russians. We'll see. Our proposal for an Easter ceasefire remains in place."
Background:
- On 30 March, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is willing to agree to a ceasefire over the Easter holidays, as well as an energy truce.
- "We are ready for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays. In my view, to be honest, normal people who respect life talk about a ceasefire and ending the war for life, not for a few days. But we are, of course, ready for any compromises, except compromises with our dignity and sovereignty," he said.
- Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow would not support Zelenskyy's proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, arguing that it was not "clearly formulated".
