The Recording Academy Awards Department and screening committees ensure that all entries are in the appropriate categories.
The purpose of genre screening committees is not to make artistic or technical judgments about the recordings, but rather to make sure that each entry is eligible and placed in its proper category.
First Round Voting determines GRAMMY nominees

In the General Field, however, the top eight finalists are the nominees, with the exception of Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical and Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical, both of which have five nominees.
After nominations have been determined and announced, Academy voting members vote in up to ten categories across three genre fields in the genre fields plus the six categories in the General Field to determine the winners.
Winners are announced at the Annual GRAMMY Awards & Premiere Ceremony.
