⇱ Court orders detention of Lviv Customs inspector suspected of killing serviceman

The Lychakiv District Court of Lviv has imposed a preventive measure of 60 days of pre-trial detention without the right to bail on Lviv Customs inspector Andrii Trush, who is suspected of killing a serviceman of a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC).

With this decision, the court granted the prosecution’s motion.

In response to the prosecutor’s motion, the suspect objected and asked the court to impose a more lenient preventive measure.

The suspect’s lawyer also asked the court to reject the prosecution’s motion and to impose house arrest around the clock with the use of electronic monitoring.

As reported by Ukrinform, on April 2 in Lviv, a serviceman of a Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TRC) was fatally stabbed in the neck with a knife. The suspected attacker was detained.

The State Customs Service confirmed that the person detained on suspicion of killing the TRC serviceman in Lviv is an employee of the Lviv Customs Office.

The detainee has been formally charged with intentional murder committed in connection with the victim performing official duties (Article 115, Part 2, Paragraph 8 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, the 34-year-old customs officer stabbed the serviceman at the moment when his 28-year-old brother was fleeing from an alert group, and the TRC serviceman was trying to stop him.
