Summary
- Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition is gold-plated and costs $7,000.
- The GPU comes with premium features and a certificate confirming the gold fineness.
- Prices for Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs are now falling globally after a period of high scalping.
A year ago, I wouldn't have believed my ears if you had told me that there would be a $7,000 gold-plated GPU on the market. However, that was before we saw scalpers sell the base GPU for $9,000 earlier this year, so suddenly a $7k price point doesn't seem that expensive. If you're in the mood for something as mighty as it is flashy, you can now score a gold-plated RTX 5090 from ROG, and honestly, it looks pretty amazing.
Nvidia is supposedly "trying to hide" the RTX 5060, as there may not be reviews at launch
It looks like we'll have to wait a while before reviews start rolling out.
The Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition will set you back seven grand
As spotted by VideoCardz, the Asus ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5090 Dhahab OC Edition is a GPU that's plated with real gold. Its description sounds more like a perfume commercial than a graphics card specification sheet:
The ROG Astral GeForce RTX™ 5090 Dhahab Edition is a celebration of the rapid evolution of the Middle East, featuring a unique skyline silhouette that signifies a transition from the sands to the skies. It also introduces ROG's first quad-fan design, coupled with a patented vapor chamber, increased heatsink fin density, a phase-change GPU thermal pad, towering default clock speeds, boosted power delivery, and more. These premium innovations – amplified by an eye-catching die-cast frame and metal GPU bracket – combine to deliver absolute performance that can handle even the most demanding gaming scenarios.
If you purchase this card, you even get a little certificate verifying that your GPU is, in fact, blinged out. The certificate reveals that these graphics cards feature a 999 gold fineness rating and weigh 6.5 grams. There's also some beautiful Arabic inscriptions and some cool Middle Eastern imagery etched onto the gold itself. Given how many reports have come in of RTX 5090 melting power cables, maybe you can place a small ingot mold under the card and collect anything that drips off the card.
On the other hand, if you're interested in the newest RTX 50 series but you're not keen on spending that much on a GPU, then I have some good news for you. While scalped 5090s did sell for around $9,000, things have finally cooled down, and reports are coming in that prices for Nvidia's RTX 50-series GPUs are tumbling around the world.
