AMD just dropped a teaser for the upcoming Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 9 9900X3D launch. We've been waiting for AMD's next gaming-focused CPUs since CES, and now we have a concrete launch date with some prices! The AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D will cost $599, and the flagship chip, the 9950X3D, will set you back $699 for the ultimate gaming experience. These two processors follow the 9800X3D, rounding out AMD's Ryzen 9000 series with 3D V-Cache.

The announcement is set to land on March 12, which is just five days away. Although AMD already has the 9800X3D out and available, we have a sneaky suspicion these two new chips will beat that processor across the board and are certainly charging a premium for the luxury. Thankfully, AMD has set an MSRP identical to the previous generation. Like their non-X3D counterparts, the 9950X3D and 9900X3D will be 16-core and 12-core behemoths with high clock speeds.

Providing the ultimate gaming experiences

AMD has spent the start of 2025 catering to gamers with the announcement of the new X3D processors at CES. This was followed by the successful launch of the Radeon 9000 series GPUs, with the Radeon 9070 XT and Radeon 9070 performing surprisingly well at reasonable prices. Intel is struggling with its processors, and although the Arc B-series GPU launch went well, AMD seems to be smashing balls out of the park for both CPUs and GPUs so far this year.

Right, back to the new chips. In terms of cache, which is the most important spec of these X3D CPUs, the mighty Ryzen 9 9950X3D will house 144 MB of the stuff, while the slightly weaker 9900X3D will have just 80 MB. The existing Ryzne 7 9800X3D has 104 MB, making these two chips considerably more powerful for gaming and heavier workloads that demand higher amounts of cache for better performance. TDPs are in line with non-X3D chips, too, so if you're moving from the 9900X or 9950X, you won't need a new cooler.

The company shared data during its CES reveal, which showed an 8% uplift compared to the outgoing AMD Radeon 9 7950X3D. One area where Ryzen 7000 X3D processors suffered was productivity. They simply weren't as good as non-X3D chips at tasks other than gaming, but this is set to change with the 9000 series, as we saw with the 9800X3D. So, the 9900X3D and 9950X3D should be a good choice for content creators as well as gamers.
