Apple fans around the world had their eyes glued to the screen as the company held its big "Awe Dropping" event today. The company did not let up, revealing a ton of hardware like the Apple Watch Ultra and the AirPods Pro 3.

However, the real star of the show, as you might expect, was the new iPhone. And while everyone was expecting an iPhone 17, we got something a little more; the iPhone Air.

During the company's "Awe Dropping" event, Apple dropped the iPhone Air. The Air has two claims to match up to: first, Apple stated that the iPhone Air was the thinnest phone it has ever released, measuring a mere 5.6mm. Second, the company said that, despite it being the thinnest model, it's also the most durable. Wow, that's some lofty crowns it has to wear.

The phone also features a few cool features. For instance, it features a 40-megapixel back camera and an 18-megapixel front one. You can record from both cameras at the same time, allowing you to capture the scene in front of you while also adding a "selfie window" that shows your reaction to it. Additionally, the phone is eSIM-only, presumably to keep the space down and the phone thin. The iPhone Air will go on sale for $999.

Apple also reveals its workhorse phone, the iPhone 17 Pro Max

Of course, there was also a new wave of iPhone 17s. The beefiest models in the range are the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, and Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, had some lovely things to say about it:

“iPhone 17 Pro is by far the most powerful iPhone we’ve ever made, with a stunning new design rebuilt from the inside out to maximize performance and deliver an enormous leap in battery life. With three 48MP Fusion cameras, a new Center Stage front camera experience, and pro-level video features, the creative opportunities are endless. iPhone 17 Pro sets a new standard for the smartphone industry and is a massive upgrade for our most demanding users.”

As Greg touches upon, the battery life has been increased by tweaking the overall design of the phone, and the eSIM-only version makes even more room for a longer charge life. The company claims that, with the eSIM-only version, you'll be getting up to 39 hours of video playback per charge, which sounds pretty good to me. Plus, if you opt for the Pro Max version, you can score up to 2TB of internal memory for all those videos and photos you'll be grabbing. The iPhone 17 Pro will cost $1,099, while the Pro Max is at $1,199.

The iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max will open for preorders on September 12th, with a general release coming on September 19th.
