The CPU is only as fast as the system memory attached to the motherboard. Without speedy RAM, the processor will encounter data bandwidth bottlenecks when moving data between components. This is why AMD and Intel recommend specific DDR4 and DDR5 speeds for memory. The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X needs DDR5 RAM with a minimum speed of 5,600 MT/s to allow the chip to run as designed. If possible, we recommend using AMD EXPO overclocking profiles and RAM kits with speeds of 6,000 MT/s.

G.Skill's Trident Z5 Neo DDR5-6000 is a great kit for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. A CAS latency of 30 is solid for DDR5, and the RGB-infused design will look great inside most gaming systems without looking too obnoxious.

I'd recommend the Trident Flare X6 from the same brand if you want something less flashy. Performance is pretty much identical to the top kit with a 6000 MT/s transfer rate and a CL30 latency rating. I'd recommend it whether you're into gaming, resource-heavy software, or anything else.

  • Best value
    TEAMGROUP Elite DDR5-4800 (2x16) RAM

TeamGroup's Elite DDR5 RAM isn't anything to write home about. The design is about as basic as it comes with a bare PCB and the performance isn't incredible. Where this RAM kit comes alive is the price, striking a great balance between cost and speed.

  • Premium pick
    Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5 64GB (4x16GB) 6400 CL32

For premium PC builds, I'd go with the Corsair Dominator Titanium RGB DDR5-6400 kit. The performance is excellent with a CL32 latency rating but the design is where this kit stands out from the crowd. Its clean minimalist look is outstanding.

  • Best RGB styling
Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR5 RAM

With speeds of 6,000 MT/s and a latency rating of CL30, the Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB is a speedy kit for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X. With a customizable ten-zone RGB light bar across the entire stick length, you can easily add some extra flair to your build.

AMD's Ryzen 9 9950X is a flagship processor but you can pair it up with Kingston Fury's Beast RGB DDR5 affordable RAM. With speeds of 6000MT/s speeds and priced well, you won't be disappointed with this memory installed inside your PC.

How to choose the best RAM for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X

Picking the best system memory for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X is largely determined by how much you'll need. I recommend at least 16GB though most of the kits I included in this collection offer 32GB capacities. AMD recommends 5200MT/s for DDR5 RAM in dual-channel mode (two modules) and 3600MT/s for quad-channel mode (four modules). The processor enjoys having faster RAM, so buy a kit and push the CPU as hard as system stability will allow if you want the best performance.

Being one of the best AMD CPUs, the newer AM5 processors like the Ryzen 9 9950X only work with DDR5 RAM. It's possible to pair up some cheap DDR5 RAM with the 9950X but this could do the processor a disservice and hamper its performance. If you're spending so much on the CPU, I'll assume you have plenty of budget to spare for system memory and as such I recommend the G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo.

Although AMD EXPO vs. Intel XMP doesn't matter much, this kit is optimized for AMD processors with EXPO. The clock speed of 6,000 MT/s with a CAS latency of 30 offers great performance for the price. If you'd prefer something without RGB, our runner-up, the G.Skill Flare F5, delivers virtually identical performance without all the flashy visual noise. If money isn't an issue, the Corsair Dominator is a beast and is our premium pick. Any of these RAM kits will make a good match for the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X.
