Far Cry 4 has finally stepped into the modern generation of gaming—well, at least for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S port of the game. Ubisoft released Far Cry 4 back in 2014 for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC.

The game was a solid entry into the franchise that built on the promise of Far Cry 1, allowing the player to hunt, explore a vast open world, and fight their way through a tense civil war. But, seemingly out of nowhere, the fourth installment in the main Far Cry franchise has been blessed with a new update to make the game run on par with new-gen consoles.

Far Cry 4's new update, 10 years later

Ubisoft announced that a new update would be rolled out for 2014's Far Cry 4 that would allow it to run in a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The update is found under patch version 1.08 and will alert players after downloading that Far Cry 4 "supports 60 FPS on PS5 consoles."

Additionally, the Ubisoft title is part of a huge Far Cry sale on Ubisoft's official website and Steam. So, fans can look to try out the new updated Far Cry 4 at a discounted price, currently at 80% off ($6.00)—something reported by Ubisoft themselves.

It should also be noted that Ubisoft's Far Cry 4 has also touched down on Xbox Game Pass, so there are a multitude of avenues that new and returning players can play Far Cry 4 in the coming months.

And for those who don't know what to expect from Far Cry 4, check out the official description for a brief overview:

"Built from the legendary DNA of its award-winning predecessor, Far Cry 4 delivers the most expansive and immersive Far Cry experience ever in an entirely new and massive open world. With integrated drop-in/drop-out open world co-op play, Far Cry 4 re-imagines the cooperative experience for the next generation. You’ll now be able to discover and explore the living open world of Kyrat together."

Fans can check out the game's new update on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
