Well, if industry insiders are to be believed, Valve is planning to answer all three of these questions in one fell swoop. As reported by WccfTech, journalist Mike Straw spoke in the newest Insider Gaming Weekly podcast episode. In the video, they claim that people they've been talking to are "adamant" that Half-Life 3 will launch alongside the Steam Machine:

I wanted to just give an update on things. People have asked. I have been told a date. I wasn't going to report that date because they weren't 100% confident in that date. That date has sailed past. So, there's a reason I didn't report it. Every date from every journalist I've spoken with, every creator who follows it and has dug, every single date that they were told has passed. [...] Now, everything I have, everybody I talked to, is still adamant that Half-Life 3 will be a launch title for the Steam Machine.

The claim may seem a little shaky given how Mike says that journalists and creators are the ones behind this news. However, Mike goes on to claim that these people are not "these run-of-the-mill sources that haven't gotten me information before." In fact, Mike says they were the same people who hinted that a new Lord of the Rings game is in development, so it's more than just random people saying what they think will happen.

Okay, so if Half-Life 3 will tie in with Valve's newest device, when will the Steam Machine release? Mike claimed that Valve hasn't quite nailed down how much they want to charge for the Steam Machine, and the reason is likely what you're expecting:

The reason is because of PC RAM prices. They're up 200%, 300%, 500% of what they were in October, and it's only getting worse. The window that I was told was Spring 2026, for the Steam Machine, for the Steam Frame, for the Steam Controller, for Half-Life 3. [...] At the end of the day, the game is real. There's no denying it. It's just a when and not if at this point. All the signs pointed to it being announced in December. Then everything hit the fan, and I think it was a case of that concern.

And yes, that was this December, the one we're in now. And while I'd have loved to play Half-Life 3 on a Steam Machine right now, I get why Valve wants to push back to Spring 2026 instead.
