November was quite the month for Google. Gemini 3 went live, the company figured out a way to make AirDrop work on Android devices, and most importantly, NotebookLM got some of its most meaningful updates.

Given that the team seems to be dropping something new practically every few days, keeping track of all the changes is definitely a challenge. So, here's a rundown of everything NotebookLM picked up in November 2025.

November was a big month for NotebookLM

While Google doesn’t seem to formally publish release notes for NotebookLM, Simon Tokumin, the NotebookLM team lead at Google Labs, recently began sharing weekly release notes over on X (formerly Twitter).

He only recently started posting these and shared the first set right at the beginning of November. I reached out to Simon to double-check, and he confirmed that the weekly roundups pretty much cover everything that launched last month.

Kicking things off in early November, Simon shared polish updates from the previous week. This included the much-needed ability to resize panels in NotebookLM (which were previously fixed in size), an improved chat input visual design, and a proper share icon replacing the old padlock (which I somehow never noticed).

The team also added longer context support (4 times longer) for Flashcards and Quizzes to allow for more detailed decks, made Drive file URLs work in the import box, and finally improved the table experience by streaming content in chat instead of waiting for the entire table to load, making large tables much easier to work with.

Next up, in the coming week, Google finally added the Flashcards and Quizzes feature to the NotebookLM mobile app, allowing users to create and review cards on the go and study more efficiently. They also finally added the capability to import Google Sheets into NotebookLM.

Another quality-of-life update lets you see and copy the custom prompts used for artifacts, making it much easier to reuse and share spontaneous customizations that worked well.

On the bugfix front, you can now share YouTube URLs into NotebookLM directly from the YouTube app. Finally, they rolled out improved anime and Kawaii Video Overview styles too!

Moving on to the next week, Gemini's Deep Research feature arrived within the NotebookLM interface. We spotted it in the works a few days before the official launch, but unfortunately, I did find the feature disappointing.

NotebookLM got support for a lot more sources that same week, including Microsoft Word documents and images! A new context menu for failed sources now allows users to delete all failed sources simultaneously, so no more manually deleting them one by one. Google also rolled out a series of new Featured STEM Notebooks.

They also finally added the ability to customize Video Overviews, meaning users can style them exactly how they want. You can now download Flashcards as CSV for import into Anki, playback positions for Audio Overviews are saved and resume where you left off, and on mobile, users can finally also select specific sources when chatting or generating Audio Overviews.

Another pretty cool update the mobile app got is the ability to autogenerate Audio Overviews on initial upload of sources, saving time and letting users jump straight into listening.

Release notes from November 24th, 2025

The following week was the most action-packed yet. Slide Decks and Infographics, both powered by Nano Banana Pro, arrived in NotebookLM! The AI tool also got a "Thinking UX," which lets you see NotebookLM's thought process when answering a question you ask.

The custom personas feature also got a major boost: you can now create much longer personas, up to 5,000 characters instead of the previous 500. Google also added a Create Notebook + button at the top of every notebook to allow users to quickly start a new notebook without navigating back to the homescreen.

Last week of November had no release notes

Unfortunately, no release notes for the last week of November have been shared. I assume it’s because the team had to roll back the Slide Decks and Infographics feature due to heavy demand (which are now back). That said, there's no doubt that November was one of the most feature-packed months for NotebookLM yet!
