Most "all-in-one" PCs are just a mini PC inside of a screen. Well, get ready for the HP EliteBoard G1a, which is PC guts tucked inside of a keyboard. Among various other things, the company announced it at CES 2026. If you've grown tired of being attached to a monitor while choosing a keyboard, now it can be the other way around.
It's pretty cool. I've reviewed many HP EliteBooks, praising the keyboard, and internally wondered why I can't have a similar experience with a desktop. Now I can.
"Work is being redesigned in real time—where it happens, how it happens, and what tools employees need to stay productive," said Guayente Sanmartin, Senior Vice President and Division President, Commercial Systems & Displays Solutions at HP Inc. "HP’s focus is to remove the friction and complexity that slows people down and turn emerging AI into a real advantage. The HP EliteBoard G1a Next Gen AI PC does exactly that by delivering next-generation local AI power in a keyboard-sized form factor that moves at the speed of modern work."
A mini PC inside of a keyboard
The name G1a does imply that it uses AMD processors, up to a Ryzen AI 7 350 PRO 8C. And you can spec it out pretty well, with up to a 2TB SSD and 32GB RAM. I do call it a mini PC inside of a keyboard, because it's obviously using mobile processors.
There are two distinct versions of it, one with an attached cable, and one without. They both have just two USB Type-C ports, one of them USB4 and one of them USB 3.2 Gen 2. The attached cable variant does have USB4 capabilities; however, the unit without the attached cable does not get you an extra port.
Of course, you're probably wondering what happens when the keyboard breaks. Your keyboard is probably the peripheral you need to replace the most, so having it as part of your computer might not entirely make sense. It is, of course, reparable. In fact, it can be swapped out pretty easily, something that HP also made a point of doing on its newest EliteBooks.
The HP EliteBoard G1a is going to be available in March, and pricing will be announced closer to availability.
