Summary

  • Intel is likely prepping a Panther Lake consumer reveal on Oct 9 amid pressure after Arrow Lake missteps.
  • Hints suggest that the Intel 18A node and Xe3 graphics will be available with Panther Lake.
  • Intel Tech Tour tradition suggests new consumer CPU reveals—Meteor, Lunar, now likely Panther Lake.

It's a very interesting time for Intel right now, and whether or not that's a good thing or not depends on where you stand. For consumers, it's always exciting to see what Intel has in store for us next. For the people at Intel, after the pretty disastrous Arrow Lake launch and the US government taking 10% shares in the company, there has to be a huge onus on the next series doing well, both technically and financially.

Does Intel have what it takes to regain lost ground? Turns out, we don't have long to wait until we find out. We're getting whispers that the company is prepping a big reveal on October 9th, and it's shaping up to be the consumer models for its new CPU line, Panther Lake.

As spotted by VideoCardz, people from around the world are descending upon the Ocotillo facility in Arizona in preparation for the Intel Tech Tour. Intel has told visitors that they're allowed to come along and post about their visit to the facility, but they're not allowed to reveal what they saw or what the company has planned for the future. There are whispers abound of a presentation being passed around, which people aren't allowed to talk about until October 9th.

However, there is one theme that keeps cropping up: the reveal of Panther Lake. While nobody has confirmed the nitty-gritty details, people apparently have enough permission to say that they saw something in progress that's likely Panther Lake. For instance, we got hints about the new Intel 18A node and Xe3 graphics, both of which are new for the company.

So, how likely is it that we'll be seeing Panther Lake in the near future? As VideoCardz notes, the last two Intel Tech Tours pulled back the curtain on a new CPU series: 2024 brought Lunar Lake into the fold, while 2023 showed off Meteor Lake. As such, it's a pretty safe bet that we'll learn about the next range of consumer-facing CPUs on October 9th.
