Lenovo's next device might be a new shape-shifting foldable that can be used as both a laptop and a handheld gaming PC, thanks to a folding screen and keyboard/gamepad accessories, according to Windows Latest.

New leaked images of the device show it set up like a Surface-like laptop and in a handheld gaming mode, with two controllers attached to each side of the display, similar to the Switch or Switch 2. To transform between these two form factors, the Legion Go Fold's display unfolds from 7.7-inches to 11.6-inches, thanks to a hinge that's located in the middle of the POLED Screen.

According to the report, you can still use the controllers with the display unfolded to its bigger size, but at 11.6-inches, the Legion Go Fold becomes pretty unwieldy. The controllers can also be flipped over and used like a mouse, similar to the Legion Go 2's gamepads and the Switch 2's Joy-Cons.

It looks like the right controller features a built-in circular screen that shows performance stats and doubles as a touchpad. Additionally, the gamepads include what seems to be a less elegant version of the ROG Xbox Ally X's controller arms. At least in theory, this should make the Legion Go Fold more comfortable to use in gaming mode for longer periods compared to most other handheld gaming PCs.

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 is a huge upgrade in every way... with one glaring issue

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 keeps what made the first unique among other handhelds, with enough quality of life improvements to make it really shine.

It's unclear if Lenovo actually plans to release the Legion Go Fold

There's a possibility the handheld is just a proof-of-concept prototype

On the hardware front, the Legion Go Fold is rumored to feature an Intel Core Ultra 7 258V CPU, 32GB of RAM, and a 58 Whr battery (storage specs are still unknown). We'll likely see Lenovo officially announce the foldable at MWC in Barcelona, Spain, next week. It's unclear how much the handheld will cost, but given the memory shortage and that the Legion Go 2 typically sells for $1,350, I can see the Legion Go Fold possibly landing in the $2,000 range.

There's also a strong possibility that this is just a prototype that won't get a wider release, especially as the memory shortage rages on. While I like the idea of a handheld that doubles as a laptop, I can't see myself carrying around its keyboard and gamepad accessories. I'd likely just use an Xbox Series X gamepad with a lightweight gaming laptop rather than this more complicated setup.
