Have you been enjoying Elden Ring Nightreign? Whether you got the game or you've been checking out a Twitch stream of it (the top three streamers I follow are all playing it right now), people are tucking into the newest entry in the Elden Ring series, which adds roguelike elements into the mix.
As people grab the game in droves, the official Elden Ring X account has announced that the game has hit two million players. And while Steam's reviews tell a pretty conflicted story about the game's quality, this isn't the first time FromSoftware has seen this happen.
Elden Ring Nightreign hits two million players
As spotted by GamesRadar, the Elden Ring X account made a post celebrating two million players. GamesRadar notes that Elden Ring Nightreign isn't on any subscription gaming services, so there's a very good chance that those two million players equate to two million sales, but without the official figures, I can't say for sure.
Still, two million players on the very first day is excellent news for FromSoftware, especially given how this new game mixes up the tried and true formula a bit.
Elden Ring Nightreign's reviews hit "Mixed," but it may just be a temporary spell
You'd be forgiven for thinking that this meant that Elden Ring Nightreign was a success on all fronts, but it's a different story on Steam. At the time of writing, the game has hit 65% positive reviews on Valve's platform, which earned the game a "Mixed" rating. This makes it the lowest-rated game by FromSoftware right now.
Does this mean Nightreign is a middling game in terms of quality? Maybe not. As it turns out, while Nightreign is currently the lowest-rated title, it hasn't reached the lowest score that a FromSoftware game has ever reached. Take a peek at the review history for Dark Souls Remastered, for instance: while it currently sits at an impressive 91% positive review rating, it only got a score of 66% in May and 62% in June. Maybe time will also be kind to Nightreign as it did the other FromSoftware titles.
