Summary
- Nintendo ended production of the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle.
- Existing bundles will remain on shelves until sold; future Switch 2 stock will be base console only.
- Bundle offered about $29.99 value vs buying separately; grab it now to get the deal.
If you're getting a Nintendo Switch 2, you're getting it with Mario Kart World. Okay, sure, it's very possible to get a Nintendo Switch 2 without Mario Kart World, but given how you can purchase the bundle that includes both products and a decent discount on the game, people usually just get the pair.
However, it seems that Nintendo didn't want to keep the offer around forever, or, at least, it believes the deal has done enough legwork. A recent leak has revealed that Nintendo is taking the axe to the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle, but that doesn't mean you're out of luck just yet.
I've spent a day with my Nintendo Switch 2, and it's a bigger upgrade than I expected
Nintendo's new generation seems to be a homerun
Nintendo stops production of the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundle
But that doesn't mean the remaining units won't be sold on shelves
As spotted by Notebook Check, there has been a recent leak posted on the Nintendeal X account. The leak consists of a photo of an internal memo being sent to GameStop employees. The memo claims that Nintendo is no longer producing more of the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World bundles. Once they've all sold out, your only option will be to purchase the base Nintendo Switch 2 product.
So, obviously this is sad news for people who have yet to get on the Nintendo Switch 2 train. The bundle was a great way to take home a console and a game to play on day one, while scoring a cool discount on the latter.
However, there is one little nugget in the memo that the X post doesn't elaborate on:
While still available, this bundle should be recommended to customers as a great value offering an additional value of $29.99 vs purchasing the game and console separately.
So, yes, while the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle won't be produced anymore, it's not like the company has demanded that GameStop remove any existing bundles from shelves. It's just that, once those bundles are gone, they're gone for good. So, if you've been on the fence about grabbing the set, now's the perfect time to snap one up before you're left with just the base console.
