Pebble's unlikely comeback continues to build momentum just ahead of CES 2026.

Similar to the Pebble Time 2 and Pebble 2 Duo that were revealed last year, the Pebble Round 2 is an updated version of the original Pebble Time Round that launched back in 2015. Like its predecessor, the Pebble Round 2 is circular and extremely thin, though it features several notable upgrades.

First off, the Pebble Time Round's sizable bezels are gone and replaced with a sleek-looking, edge-to-edge 1.3-inch color e-paper display that's both bigger and higher resolution than the original's. Battery life has been increased to roughly two weeks, and the display is now a touchscreen. The Pebble Round 2's colors include silver, black, and rose goal, alongside a 20mm matching band in silver or black, and a 14mm rose gold option.

I wish the Pebble Round 2 was revealed alongside the Pebble Time 2, because I definitely would have bought the circular smartwatch instead.

Other new features include water resistance and a built-in microphone for voice input. So far, the Pebble Round 2 sounds like a far superior watch to the Pebble Time 2, especially as far as design is concerned, right? The key downsides are that the Pebble Round 2 doesn't feature a heart rate sensor of speaker. However, the Pebble Round 2 does offer a few basic sensors, including a built-in accelerometerand magnetometer.

Still, I wish the Pebble Round 2 was revealed alongside the Pebble Time 2, because I likely would have bought the circular smartwatch instead. With the help of Rebble (which is currently in a conflict with Pebble over backend control), I still use my Pebble Time Round occasionally -- I've always appreciated how thin and light the smartwatch is, despite its roughly 9-year-old tech being very outdated now.

Pebble's impressive comeback continues

The company also recently revealed its Index 01 smart ring

I purchased a Pebble Time 2 shortly after the smartwatch's initial reveal, but the shipping date has been pushed back a few times since then. Based on the last update, my Time 2 likely won't arrive until somewhere between late January and April.

While Pebble's comeback was initially under a new company called Core Devices, Pebble's founder Eric Migicovsky eventually recovered Pebble's trademark and returned the Pebble name to its former glory. Back in 2016, Pebble was purchased by Fitbit for $23 million, marking the end of the upstart smartwatch company. Then in 2021, Fitbit was officially acquired by Google and agreed to open-source Pebble's software, laying the groundwork for the smartwatch brand's 2025 comeback.

Pebble says that the Pebble Round 2 is available for pre-order now for $200 and that it ships in May. Pebble also recently revealed the Index 01, a smart ring.
