Every summer, the gaming community gets together to find out what new video games are on the horizon. The biggest publishers and developers take this chance to show what they have been working on for years, and while we don’t have a centralized space for everything to appear at anymore, like E3, many large events are still spread out over the summer months. One of the biggest shows every year is the Xbox Games Showcase, which will take place on June 8, 2025 at 10 AM PT.
Xbox has definitely been in a tumultuous spot in recent years. Microsoft shelled out big money to put both Zenimax Media and Activision Blizzard under their umbrella, and followed those big acquisitions up with massive layoffs and the news that many formerly Xbox-exclusive games would be playable on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. There are still a lot of unknowns when it comes to what games remain exclusive and which come to new platforms, but if we focus on just the games that will show up, we can still envision a lot of exciting titles to be shown off. Here are the games you should expect to see at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025.
10 The Outer Worlds 2 (Now Confirmed)
There are quite a few games on this list that you can expect to see, but The Outer Worlds 2 is the only confirmed game, as of the time of this writing. In fact, the game is taking headline status for this year’s Xbox Games Showcase, and will have a direct section focused on it immediately following the larger show. Xbox has been doing this in recent years with games like Starfield and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 getting the big focus. You should expect a deep dive into the game explaining what’s new from the original game, the main points of the story, and a release date for sometime later in 2025 or early 2026.
Obsidian Entertainment also released Avowed earlier this year, which was a quality RPG that has its fans. The original Outer Worlds nestled a very similar fan base, but was developed before Microsoft had acquired the development team. It will be interesting to see how the next game looks with all the time and new resources available.
Will there be Avowed DLC?
As of this writing, we can’t be sure whether or not Avowed will have DLC announced at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. The game has proven to have an audience, but we don’t know how successful it has been in Microsoft’s eyes. It is definitely possible that the Avowed team have been working on an expansion of some sort to add to its story, but that is something we will have to wait for the show to learn about.
9 Hollow Knight: Silksong
Hollow Knight: Silksong has found itself in the position of one of those games that has had fans begging to see more of it for so long that it’s starting to bring up questions about its status. Will it ever be released? Is it in development hell? While we can’t talk about the current quality of the game, it was recently confirmed to be releasing in 2025 on the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. The official Xbox Game Pass social media made sure to remind everyone that this will be a day one release on the subscription service. It’s pretty safe to say that the highly anticipated sequel will be featured here.
8 Fable
Coming into 2025, many thought that Playground Games’ Fable reboot would be the high-profile release from Xbox Games Studio for the year. Unfortunately, the game has since been delayed to 2026. Even with that in play, you should expect to get a deeper dive into the gameplay, story, and new features coming to the game. Expect to learn the status of hero customization, abilities, and maybe the status of a canine companion. We’re not sure if the team would be willing to set a hard release date, but hopefully, we will get at least a seasonal window to expect the game.
7 Minecraft Dungeons 2
Following the success of A Minecraft Movie, Mojang is sure to look to capitalize on renewed interest in Minecraft. Sure, the main game may have new updates and store content revealed at the showcase, but rumors have been spreading about a new Minecraft Dungeons game in the works. Leaked screenshots of early builds for the game have made their way online, so if the game is looking for a release sometime this year, this would be the time to officially reveal it.
6 Persona 4 Remake
Following the massive success of Persona 5, Atlus Games has been steadily working away at re-releasing past games in the series. Persona 3 Reload released last year on Game Pass and if online rumors are to be believed, that relationship is being maintained with an announcement for a Persona 4 Remake on June 8. Adding fuel to the fire is a registered domain for the possible game. As of this writing, there isn't much more to say on whether there will be new content or features. You should probably just expect the base game, fully playable on modern hardware.
5 Clockwork Revolution
Clockwork Revolution was revealed at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, but has been completely absent from any discussion since then. Will the 2025 summer show be where we learn more about inXile Entertainment’s new game? It may be something we have to wait until the show to know for sure, but a new trailer would go a long way to not only reminding people about the game, but give them a good idea of what to expect. Is it really the game that gives off big Bioshock Infinite vibes like its original trailer suggests?
4 Marvel’s Blade
Now that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is out for both Xbox and PlayStation players, it seems like a good time to start looking more into Arkane Studio’s Marvel’s Blade. This game was originally revealed at The Game Awards 2023, but, like Clockwork Revolution, has gone silent. We know next to nothing about the game other than it’s a third-person game where you play as Blade in Paris. Even if it’s not ready to release until late 2026, now would be a very good time to start showing it off.
3 Gears of War Collection
There have definitely been some big releases from Xbox on PlayStation in recent years. Forza Horizon 5, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded coming to the rival platform were big moments in breaking down the walls of exclusivity. Since those announcements, everyone has been wondering when the big Xbox exclusives, Gears of War and Halo will make the jump. For Gears, there is a rumor that a new collection of games will be released on PS5 and Xbox Series X. Interestingly, an additional rumor is saying that the collection will only feature single-player campaigns, with no online multiplayer offerings. We don’t know the exact list of games, but it’s a safe bet to say the original trilogy is included, with maybe Judgement and Gears of War 4 included as well. If those latter titles are in the collection, the collection could be handled similarly to Halo: The Master Chief Collection, which lets you access a bunch of games in the series from one application.
What About Gears of War: E-Day?
Gears of War: E-Day got a nice surprise announcement at last year’s showcase. Not many people were expecting a prequel that would include the return of Dom, but it definitely brought back some good feelings for the series. It’s a pretty safe bet that E-Day will get another look this year, though don’t expect it to release in 2025. Current rumors are that it is scheduled for sometime in 2026.
2 Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PlayStation and Switch 2
Similar to the Gears situation, Halo is heavily rumored to be making the jump to other consoles. However, the situation around this is a little more murky. Some rumors state that the games included in The Master Chief Collection are being split up and can be purchased separately. Another rumor has suggested that Halo Studios is working on making a full remake of the original game, Halo: Combat Evolved. There is also Halo Infinite just sitting there waiting for a boost in player numbers that the PS5 could deliver.
It seems that there are several routes that Halo could go down this summer, but almost every rumor suggests that route will lead to new platforms for the series.

1 Ninja Gaiden 4
Ninja Gaiden 4 was surprise-announced at the Xbox Developer Direct in January, with a release set for sometime this year. We already got a look at gameplay at that reveal, so a trailer giving a firm release date seems in the cards for the showcase. We know that Platinum Games is helping Team Ninja bring the series back alongside a new protagonist named Yakumo. The focus here could be centered around making players care about the new introduced character alongside Ryu Hayabusa.
