If you need a small PC that's plenty capable, the Mac mini M4 is the way to go. It does everything you need it to and more. Perhaps the only thing that it needs is more ports and a way to easily expand the storage. Apple is going to change those points on the Mac mini any time soon, so you'll have to take things into your own hands by buying a dock.

We've reviewed some of these in the past, like the one from Satechi, and while it's nice, the $100+ price tag just isn't something that makes it an instant purchase. It's all in the ports

I've said it time and time again, but when it comes to a dock or docking station, it's all about the ports that are available. This model comes with quite a bit, with the front panel hosting two USB-A, an SD card and microSD card reader.

The rear has three USB-A ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, and a USB-C port. That USB-C port is open to connect to the Mac mini. On the underside of the dock there's an M.2 SSD slot that can be used to expand the storage of the Mac mini.

We think it's a pretty versatile dock, especially for the Mac mini which comes with only USB-C ports. While it's pretty simple, it provides a lot of the ports that are used every day that Apple didn't include. And at this price, it's pretty easy to pick up just to give it a try.
