With a massive 14 TB of space to store all your data, this Western Digital Elements external HDD is perfect for stashing files and moving data between systems. You could also shuck it by removing the HDD inside and using it for a server or NAS.

I'm normally highlighting a Network-Attached Storage (NAS) drive deal for Prime Day, but not this time around! Today, we've got a 14TB Western Digital Elements external HDD, costing almost half that of a Western Digital Red drive. Costing just $170 for Prime Day, you can enjoy an incredible amount of storage space for just $0.01 per GB. Compare that to how much you'd need to fork out for cloud-based storage, and it's a considerable saving. But if you already have a NAS, why not look at removing the drive that comes with this enclosure?

Why bother with this storage Prime Day deal?

We last covered this external HDD in July when it was discounted to $200, and here we are with a further $30 knocked off the MSRP. The enclosure itself isn't anything exciting. It's a slab of black plastic with a single USB 3.0 port. Think of it like an external drive, but one you wouldn't want to move around while running due to the spinning platters inside the chassis. Although not terribly exciting, Western Digital does kit out its Elements range of external storage with Discovery backup software, so there's little reason for you to avoid the 3-2-1 backup rule.

Western Digital also provides a two-year warranty on this drive, just in case you need support, but if you felt particularly brave, you could open up the enclosure and attempt to extract the standard 3.5-inch HDD inside. It may be a white label drive, but you could be lucky and encounter a Western Digital Red NAS HDD, although both would be absolutely fine for running inside a server or NAS for storing data. If you simply wish to store lots of data and don't care for self-hosting and other advanced use cases, the Elements is a great external drive.

For just $170, you will struggle to find a better deal than this for an HDD with a similar capacity, let alone one already installed within an external enclosure.
