Extensive internet research is a core requirement of my work. To ensure I can revisit material anytime, anywhere, I habitually store my findings on Google Drive. Before I came across this tiny tool called Save to Google Drive, this process was quite inefficient and tedious, as it involved downloading everything locally before uploading it again to my Drive.

With the Save to Google Drive extension installed, I can now transfer content directly from the internet into my Google Drive. As a blogger, I need to save research for different topics into separate folders for easy accessibility. Save to Drive lets me save the information to the desired location on the drive. It lets me save information directly to the desired location within my Drive, including images, videos, documents, and URLs. This tool has significantly streamlined my research workflow, saving considerable time and effort.

2 Zip Extractor

Manage archived files like a pro

I maintain multiple Google accounts, and for all but one, I manage the storage within the 15GB of free space provided by Google. For that, I heavily rely on ZIP and RAR files, especially for storing large items such as software installers, media files, and chat backups. I convert large software and media files to ZIP files and store them on Google Drive. However, managing these compressed archive files directly within Google Drive previously proved to be a significant challenge. A common problem was that folders containing archive contents often appeared empty when viewed through the standard Drive interface. Fortunately, after installing the Zip Extractor, these issues have been resolved.

I just connected Zip Extractor with my Google Drive account once, and every time I can access compressed files directly from the drive. Once I open them with Zip Extractor, the contents are displayed instantly in a browser tab. I can view them or extract them at my desired location within the drive as well.

Beyond its extraction capabilities for RAR and ZIP formats, ZIP Extractor also functions as a file compression tool. Users can select multiple files and easily compress them into a new ZIP archive, which can then be saved directly back into Google Drive.

Always extract content in a temporary folder within Drive, which simplifies cleanup after viewing or editing and helps keep your main folders organized.

1 Cloud Drive to Mail

Finding it hard getting attached? No worries!

I store important documents, including personal files and my resume, on Google Drive for convenient access. However, emailing these documents requires either sharing a link or downloading the file locally for attachment to Gmail. Unfortunately, there’s no direct way I can attach the document from the drive to my email. This tiny tool called Cloud Drive to Mail bridges the gap for me, and lets me send documents as email attachments directly from their Google Drive. It allows attachment of up to 22 to 25 megabytes in size.

It can be easily installed within Google Drive, and once it is installed it enables users to open any file from the drive with its mail editor. This old-fashioned editor features a straightforward interface, allowing users to add attachments, compose a subject and body content, include CC recipients, and even send a copy to themselves.
