Like many, I was able to jump into the Elden Ring Nightreign network test. During this time, those who joined got a brief glimpse of the game. This glimpse included some of the bosses that will make an appearance in the game's final release, the basic structure of the game, and some of the game's playable characters. There is no denying that Nightreign is much different than the standard Soulsborne experience that From Software has perfected over the years. While playing the game gave me hope for its release at the end of May, there are some things that I feel could be changed, and some stuff that From Software should add to make the game better.

3 Give me more space

I want to roam around

The network test allowed players to experience two variations of the new area they could explore. This new area is called Limveld instead of Limgrave, as in the original Elden Ring. Each time you enter Limveld, the locations are mixed up, enemies are placed differently, and you fight different bosses. This is great because it keeps everything fresh. I did notice, however, that during the network test, my team and I could often hit every location on the map that we wanted to hit with plenty of time to spare.

While our first few trips across Limveld were full of mistakes, we quickly fell into a pattern of being able to rapidly explore the land without worry. This leads me to believe that FromSoft should increase the size of the land and add more locations for players to explore. This way, players won't get used to the land as quickly and have more fun exploring it. It would also allow players to collect more items and have a wider range of loot.

4 best games I'm playing while waiting for Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign is just over a month away from release. Here are the games I'm playing to pass the time.

2 More items should be given

Not just relics

After you complete a round or die trying, you are rewarded with various Relics. These allow you to customize your character by giving them different buffs with which to start the next cycle. Some of these are character-specific, while others are general buffs. Again, this is a great way to enhance replayability in the game and keep players engaged. Unfortunately, I'd like to see a bit more than just Relics. I'd like to see weapons, armor, and even cosmetics.

For the game's full release, I'd like to see cosmetics as a reward. Whether this is through armor that we can change on our characters or skins that we can apply, it would be a great way to increase the reward system in the game. I am personally not a fan of the static character designs because I, like many others, enjoy a round of fashion souls. Meaning, I like to periodically change my armor in any Dark Souls-style game to refresh my character's look. Different bosses could have a chance to drop specific armors or cosmetics to make farming a priority as well. Additionally, I like the idea of introducing new starting weapons to the game. I don't want overpowered gear, but instead of standing with a short sword, maybe give me the option of a dagger or a basic flail.

I want to play two-player

Source: GamesRadar

If you have played Elden Ring Nightreign or even did some basic research on the game, you know that it is a three-player co-op title. There is matchmaking, so if you are playing by yourself, you will connect with other players. You can also play the game solo. This style of multiplayer is concerning to players because it means that you either have to play solo or with two random players, unless you have two friends who want to play the game with you.

I am not a fan of the multiplayer style. I don't like playing with random players because we often have a lack of communication that leads to players getting killed. This isn't much fun, but I also don't have two friends who are reliable Souls game players. Increasing the range of players who can play would do Elden Ring Nightreign a lot of good. Being able to play with just two players and not needing to rely on a random player would be great, and many members of the community agree. This is actually a topic that has been brought up multiple times since Nightreign was announced.

Nightreign is nearly perfect

Elden Ring Nightreign is a very fun game that I can easily see myself getting lost in for a while. It takes many aspects of previous games that From Software developed, giving players something they have asked for a long time. Unfortunately, there are still some small issues that many members of the community have, including myself. If Nightreign is going to succeed, From Software should listen to the community. It would be great to get more rewards for completing a cycle. It would also be great to have access to more multiplayer party sizes. Finally, it would be great to get a larger map. Maybe at some point, we will get Caelid added to the game.
