With Microsoft recently raising the price of its Xbox Series X, there's a good chance that Xbox One owners felt like they had missed the ideal window to upgrade to a newer console.
However, it seems like Microsoft is throwing a raft at people who are still using the previous generation of Xbox consoles. People are spotting some pretty huge discounts applying to the Xbox Series X, but before you get too excited, there are quite a lot of hoops you'll need to jump through before Microsoft deems you worthy.
Original Xbox emulation finally comes to Android — sort of
Games aren't exactly playable, but it's mostly a step in the right direction.
The Xbox Series X is going for a 50% discount if you're deemed worthy
Are you worthy?
As spotted by Notebook Check, people over on the Xbox subreddit are noticing something strange. Some gamers are noticing a deal marked "just for you" on Xbox Series X hardware, with a wide-ranging discount. Some people are getting 17% off, while others are enjoying a massive 50% savings on the new console.
Before you get too excited, there are some pretty strict conditions to even qualify for a discount, let alone a steep one. First, it appears this deal is rolling out only in the US. We haven't heard of any claims from other regions that this deal applies to them, but it might be worth checking anyway if you're not in the US.
Second, it seems you need to own an Xbox One. It doesn't seem like the specific Xbox One model matters; it should pop up if you own the original Xbox One, the Xbox One S, or the Xbox One X. There haven't been any reports of people getting this offer if they play on consoles older than an Xbox One.
Third, it appears the actual discount depends on how much you use the console. One Redditor dug into why they got a 42% deal, and found the following:
It says “discount based on factors such as subscription, usage, or purchase behavior.” So I’ll attribute it to having a long continuous subscription because I dont buy anything else or play much anymore. They know how to rope me back in haha.
If the stars have aligned for you, be sure to check out the Xbox store on your console and see if Microsoft has a big discount waiting for you for the Xbox Series X.
Another reason Microsoft may be selling the Xbox Series X at a discount is due to its recent reveal of Project Helix. If you haven't heard of it yet, Project Helix is Microsoft's newest foray into the gaming hardware scene. From what we've heard, it'll be less like a traditional Xbox and more like a Windows 11 PC in disguise, so there's a good chance Microsoft wants to clear out its Xbox Series X stock before that arrives.

It seems it won't be a console after all
