XDA's Best in Show CES 2026: Looking ahead to the best tech of the year

This year has some incredible devices in store, and we got to see them at this year's CES. Here are our favorites

Lenovo Legion Go Fold Concept

A gaming handheld that can be much more

No matter how many times it happens, Lenovo always manages to blow us away with some of the crazy concept devices it seems to bring to every tech show, and thew MWC 2026 is no different. This time, we have the Legion Go Fold gaming handheld concept to start us off, and yes, at least for now, this isn't a commercially-available product. But that doesn't make it any less amazing.

This is a gaming handheld with detachable controllers, and it comes with a 7.7-inch display by default, making it decently easy to carry around. However, if you want to expand your screen, you can unfold it to a large 11.6-inch panel, which can give you more immersive gaming or be used as a tablet or laptop for getting work done.

It's not the most elegant device, but we can already see some enthusiasts loving this idea, and hopefully Lenovo gives it a proper test run at some point, as tends to happen with many of its concepts.

The Lenovo Legion Go 2 keeps what made the first unique among other handhelds, with enough quality of life improvements to make it really shine.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

The first-ever privacy display on a phone

Samsung's Galaxy S series has lost some of its luster with tame additions and changes year after year, but for 2026, Samsung is actually changing the game significantly with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This is the first phone ever to come with a built-in privacy display, meaning you can prevent people around you from seeing what's on your screen by making the screen nearly black when viewed at an angle.

In the past, you may have needed a dedicated privacy cover for the display, and many business laptops offer privacy displays as an option, but here, it's included by default and you can turn it on or off at will, so it's a flexible feature, and a very useful one for anyone using their phone for sensitive matters.

Lenovo ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept

Try not to run out of breath

Aside from that mouthful of a name, Lenovo's next surprise is as exciting as ever. The ThinkBook Modular AI PC Concept is a fairly self-explanatory laptop concept where you can take the screen by itself to use as a portable monitor, but you can attach it to a keyboard to make it a proper laptop. You can also detach the keyboard from the base and replace it with a different one, or even swap out the ports to fit your needs at any given time.

This whole idea isn't as new as it might seem, as a company called Framework has been doing some excellent work with modular laptops, but we're still glad to see a bigger company consider this approach. Hopefully, more and more laptop makers will start seeing modularity as a selling point for laptops.

Tecno Modular Phone Concept

Project Ara lives on

Long-time Android fans will remember Google's Project Ara to create a fully modular smartphone, which unfortunately never came to fruition. Now, Tecno is bringing that spirit back with the Tecno Modular Phone concept, which uses a magnetic attachment system to transform this device into anything you need it to be.

The Tecno Modular Phone proposes a vision where your phone can transform for the occasion, adding things like a full telephoto camera lens, a power bank, an action camera, and even things like controller attachments for gaming. All of this relies on magnets and pogo pins, and while we're not sure it will ever be seen in a real product, that won't stop us from dreaming. Welcome back, Project Ara.

Lenovo Legion Tab FIFA World Cup 2026 Edition

It's gorgeous

If I may speak personally for one second, lime green is my absolute favorite color, and I will not stand for any slander against it. The vibrant and garish tone usually means no company is brave enough to use it in a product they actually want to sell, but Lenovo is breaking the mold here with the so-called "FIFA Edition" of the new Legion Tab, which comes in a stunning Surge colorway.

The Legion Tab is a fairly standard, but powerful tablet designed for mobile gaming, with a bit of RGB flair, but this model specifically comes in a blinding colorway that I cant help but love, and it includes some extra touches related to the upcoming FIFA World Cup taking place in North America this summer. I'll keep my fingers crossed this becomes a recurring colorway for Lenovo devices.

AMD Ryzen AI Pro 400

New chips for businesses

New processors are always exciting to see, and AMD graced MWC 2026 with a whole range of new additions to its portfolion for the next generation of PCs. Most notably, the company introduced the Ryzen AI 400 Pro series, introducing a wide range of new processors aimed at business laptops, with security and maangement features to match.

The company claims its top-of-the-line Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 is up to 30% faster than Intel's Core Ultra X7 358 for multithreaded workloads, making it ideal for workstations and powerful business computers. Plus, the company also introduced desktop versions of its AI-focused chips, both for businesses and consumers. There's a lot to love here.

Motorola razr fold

Finally, a book-style razr

Motorola has been making foldable flip phones in the U.S. longer than most other companies, but it took until this year for the company to finally introduce a proper competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series. The Motorola razr fold is the company's first book-style foldable, and it's here to make an impact.

Packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 16GB of RAM, and a large 6,000mAh battery, paired with two very high-end displays on the front and on the inside, and what seems to be a pretty solid set of cameras, this is a very compelling offering that could finally put some heat on Samsung. Consider us excited to see the foldable market liven up a bit.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra

It's a phone! It's a camera!

Xiaomi has been flaunting its partnership with Leica for some time now, and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the ultimate expression of a camera phone. It comes with a triple-lens camera setup, including a 50MP 23mm main camera, a 200MP telephoto lens with a focal length from 75 to 100mm, and another 50MP ultrawide (14mm) camera. You can even use an accessory to add a proper camera-like grip and buttons.

This comes on top of an already imposing phone with a nearly 7-inch display, top-of-the-line specs, super-fast charging up to 90W wired and 50W wireless, and more. It may just be one of the best phones you can't buy in the United States.

Honor Robot Phone

This is genuinely impressive

No matter how impressive phone cameras get, it's hard to match the quality and flexibility of a proper gimbal, but that's typically been impossible to incorporate into a phone. But Honor is challenging that notion with the Robot Phone, a concept that's frankly incredible. Hidden in the rear camera bump of this phone is an action camera with a built-in physical gimbal, which pops out and sits and the top of your phone while recording.

It's not just useful for video stabilization, either. The camera can actually track a subject that's being recorded, keeping them in frame as they move around. It's not a commercial product yet, but Honor does say it plans to launch it in the second half of 2026, and it will be fun to see such a novel idea come to market.

MWC 2026 is full of cool products

With so many tech events each year, you'd think they can get boring, but companies are going above and beyond to keep making very fun products and concepts. It never stops being exciting to see what everyone is cooking up, and this year is no different.
