The Finnish Consumer Agency and the Data Protection Ombudsman organised a supervision campaign for quick loans involving 80 companies offering such services.

The Finnish Consumer Agency found that 43 companies neglected to establish the identity of their clients in the manner required by law. They were also found to not inform clients about the real annual interest rates of the quick loans.

The agency also says that questionable tactics had been used to collect outstanding loans. For example, some refused to negotiate with clients who had problems in repaying the loan.
