According to YLE TV News, the peacekeeper, who was working as an interpreter, is suspected of accepting thousands of dollars in bribes from local companies hoping to secure contracts with Finns.

The peacekeeper, who has denied committing a crime, was taken into custody and sent back to Finland a few weeks ago.

About 100 Finns work as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, serving the areas of Mazar-i-Sharif, Aybak, Sheberghan, Maimana and Kabul.

In the future, Finland will concentrate mainly on working in the area near Kabul, according to the Finnish Defence Forces web pages.
