A Finnish man is demanding the return of a plot of land owned by his father before the Winter War. The property is located in the city of Vyborg, on the Karelian Isthmus in Russia.

The Vyborg lower court rejected the claim last autumn, saying that the Soviet Union's law at the time did not recognise inheritance rights. The matter is now being reviewed by a higher court. Attorney Kari Silvennoinen has vowed to take the matter to the European Court of Human Rights, if need be.
